Yesterday, the 1st of August, I went out early to try a couple of deep holes I found while blue fishing this Spring. Both are in deeper than 25′ near the shore along LBI north of the 72 bridge. I hoped they might hold a few fluke, but they didn’t. So today, believing the weather liars, I went to the Barnegat Light reef to enjoy 2′ seas – NOT! In spite of the slop, the catching was pretty good. I was able to boat 22 shorts and 3 keepers in less than 4 hours. All on gulp!
