Jeff Barnhart and I left the dock at 6:45 am on the SEA BONA and headed out of Barnegat Inlet. We went just past and South of the Bi Buoy knowing that our drift would be North and we would going passed the mouth of Barnegat Inlet. Our lines were in the water about 8:00 am. The wind was light so we had a slow drift. The water temperature was cold, mid 50’s. It was a cool, cloudy day with mist at times. On our first drift, we caught 2 dogfish sharks, 3 skates and then I hooked an 18 ½ inch fluke. On the next drift, we caught nothing. So, at about 11:00, we decided to go to the Barnegat Reef. There were 6 boats on the reef. We kept an eye on the boats to see if anyone was catching anything. We made 2 drifts in 2 hours. We didn’t catch anything on Barnegat Reef and we didn’t see anyone on the other boats catch anything. At 1:00 pm we headed home.
