Tim Naples invited me to go out on his boat, the Navigator, on Saturday for some sea bass fishing.  Along for the ride were his friends Jon, Tim, and Bob.  We left the marina around 6:30 AM and headed out through the Little Egg Inlet.  The ride increasingly got bumpy, even though the forecast was for one to three foot seas.  By the time we got out to the wreck about 25 miles out, the boat was rolling around pretty good, but Tim locked us onto the wreck using his spot-lock feature.

We rigged up, added pieces of clam to our hooks and dropped down to the 100 foot depth.  We immediately started reeling in Sea Bass, one after the other, with every few fish being a keeper.  Triggerfish were also being reeled in, more than any of us had ever seen on an outing.  The bite remained steady as we moved around the wreck.  After 4 hours of fishing, we had 22 Sea Bass and 16 Triggerfish in the box.  The ocean calmed down by then, so our ride back in was smooth compared to the ride out.  After pulling into the slip, I teamed up with Tim’s friend Tim to clean all the fish while the others were cleaning the boat.  By the time darkness came the boat was clean and we each had a couple bags of filets to take home.
